Irreverence is a vital aspect of our craft - humour keeps the mind mobile and questing, plus hierarchy and dogma have no chance of surviving it. ...One individual role that personifies this is that of the Fool - nothing and no-one is beyond target ! Ritual is not a blind repetition of set devices at set times - although certain events happen regularly (...the seasons will turn, but they're not clockwork or defined...) Some are designed to stretch or challenge an individual - but public humiliation is not the aim, nor peer pressure the motive...and failure can be success, to lose can be to win... Danger is often required - not for the adrenaline rush, but for the reality principle...what gain is there to self in mere symbolism ? |

Robes, candles, and chanting some bastardised mixture of Aramaic, Greek, and Latin (or whichever Eastern tradition is the occult flavour of the month) are not required ! ...oh, all right - we do have some glad-rags and tapers - I'm just being vitriolic... Anyway, ritual can be a solo moment... |

...or a mass event... |

...but obviously, you are only seeing the 'family album' photo's, not what happened next ! |
